New Indian Film Academy…

Direction And Acting

The Direction and Acting Program at the New Indian Film Academy is an integrated learning experience for those who aspire to both perform and direct. It provides a deep understanding of storytelling from multiple creative angles — the performer’s vision and the director’s control.

Students learn how to visualize a script, translate emotions into visuals, and manage every creative and technical aspect of a film set. Topics include screenplay writing, storyboarding, shot composition, lighting, editing workflow, and actor direction. Through practical workshops, students direct short scenes, conduct rehearsals, and act in each other’s projects, creating a holistic learning atmosphere.

Guided by internationally awarded filmmakers, including President A.K. Sathar, learners get first-hand insights into industry practices, cinematic language, and teamwork. They gain experience in developing stories, working with crews, handling budgets, and managing actors — the full scope of film direction.

By the end of the course, students will have completed multiple short films, performed key roles in peer projects, and built the skills necessary to start their careers as independent filmmakers or professional actors.
