Introduction
Established in 2012, the New Indian Film Academy is a registered organization dedicated to the advancement of arts and artists across India. The academy works with a vision to train, promote, and preserve the fading traditional art forms for future generations. It strives to encourage artists, support their education and livelihood, and uplift underprivileged and emerging talents in the film and art industry. Through workshops, exhibitions, performances, and film productions, the academy continues to serve as a collective platform for creative collaboration and artistic excellence.
Our Profile
President – A.K. Sathar
Scriptwriter and Director (International Award-Winning Filmmaker)
A.K. Sathar is a renowned film director, screenwriter, and actor whose creative journey began in Kerala’s vibrant theatre scene. Starting his career with the famous ballet troupe Pookad Kalalayam, he later transitioned into cinema as an assistant director while contributing stories, poems, and radio plays to various publications.
In 2001, he made his directorial debut with the film Anuragam, followed by several successful telefilms, music albums, and commercials. His film Take It Easy (2019) won five international awards, including Best Director at the Satyajit Ray International Film Festival, Kolkata. His 2-hour 10-minute home cinema Kalyana Pollapp garnered over 7 lakh views on YouTube, reflecting his mass appeal.
A.K. Sathar also wrote and directed the horror film The Black Moon and serves as the Founder and Secretary of the Cochin Haneefa Memorial Society.
Secretary – Vijayarajan Kazhungancheri

With over 35 years of experience in journalism, Vijayarajan Kazhungan Njeri began his career at Crime Magazine and later led several influential publications. After his tenure with Metro News, he launched The Kerala Footwear Magazine—India’s first trilingual magazine—and News City Metro.
He currently serves as the State President of the All Kerala Supporting Artists Association, State Treasurer of the News City Metro Online News Association, and Treasurer of the Cochin Haneefa Memorial Society. His extensive experience and leadership continue to strengthen the academy’s communication and outreach initiatives.
Our Programs
The New Indian Film Academy regularly organizes acting and dubbing workshops featuring prominent stars and technicians from the Malayalam film industry. Every year, the academy presents awards recognizing exceptional talent in Tamil and Malayalam cinema under the banner of the Indian Film Academy Awards.
This year, the 13th Anniversary Award Night will be celebrated on December 20 at Jubilee Hall, Kozhikode, featuring a grand event attended by leading film stars. The evening will also include a musical performance by Junior SPB Saji Subramaniam, marking another memorable celebration of art, talent, and culture.
